History

Formerly named the Private Practitioners Group (PPG), PBA originated in New South Wales in 1968, when a group of physiotherapists in private practice were interested in taking greater control of their professional future. The idea spread rapidly to other Australian States and Territories and in the early 1970's the National PBA was formed.

Throughout the years, PBA has worked hard to ensure members receive relevant, up-to-date resources, and business advice to assist private practitioners manage and develop the business of physiotherapy

Today, PBA’s commitment to its approximately 1,100 current members is as strong as ever, with PBA striving to be recognised as the local and international leader in education services and support for all stakeholders involved in the business of physiotherapy.
