Physiotherapists who have completed their entry level qualification outside Australia where the respective professional association is a member of the WCPT (World Confederation of Physical Therapists) and who are not eligible for membership under another APA (Australian Physiotherapy Association) membership category, are eligible to join the APA as an Associate Member (AM). Benefits of Associate MembershipAssociate member benefits includes full access to APA web services, including (but not limited to) online journal library, Journal of Physiotherapy, the monthly member magazine inMotion and various National Group services and magazines. Associate Members may also attend APA professional development events at the APA member rate. However please note that due to registration requirements, Associate Members are not able to attend profressional development events that have a clinical or practical component.National GroupsAPA National Groups provide specialised clinical and professional support National Groups provide members with a pathway to specialisation in their area of practice. Members who develop their skills and knowledge in an area of practice are recognised with titled membership on the path to specialisation and fellowship of the Australian College of Physiotherapy where appropriate. Journal of PhysiotherapyThe Journal of Physiotherapy is the official journal of the APA, and documents the science and practice of physiotherapy. It is listed in the international top 10 core physiotherapy journals and is published four times per year: March, June, September, and December.Contents include: • Editorials • Cutting edge original research. • Case studies. • Critically Appraised Papers. • Clinimetrics. • Clinical Practice Guidelines. • Book reviews. • Correspondence. Online Journal LibraryThe APA recognises that physiotherapists must be able to access high quality clinical research if they are to practice evidence-based physiotherapy.Some members of the Association find it difficult to access journals through libraries so the Association has developed the APA Online Journal Library so that members may have free and easy access to journals relevant to physiotherapy practice. The APA Online Journal Library provides access to the full text of approximately 70 journals of direct interest to physiotherapists. The list includes journals of relevance to all Special Interest Groups. As an APA Member you are automatically a member of the APA Online Journal Library with access to full text, peer-reviewed papers directly relevant to your practice or research interests.
