Physiotherapists who have completed their entry level qualification outside Australia where the respective professional association is a member of the WCPT (World Confederation of Physical Therapists) and who are not eligible for membership under another APA (Australian Physiotherapy Association) membership category, are eligible to join the APA as an Associate Member (AM).

National Groups

APA National Groups provide specialised clinical and professional support
The APA has fourteen National Groups covering a range of areas of physiotherapy practice. National Groups offer members specialised information and support in clinical and occupational fields of practice as well as the opportunity to contribute to the development of APA policies and position statements.

A National Group provides its members with the latest news on their area of practice through regular email bulletins, and magazines for the musculoskeletal, sports and business groups.

National Groups provide members with a pathway to specialisation in their area of practice. Members who develop their skills and knowledge in an area of practice are recognised with titled membership on the path to specialisation and fellowship of the Australian College of Physiotherapy where appropriate.
