Resources such as evidence-based position statements, online journals, and research updates provide members with countless opportunities to achieve career success and professional excellence. The APA also uses its buying power to negotiate excellent rates on a range of products and services. Many members recoup their membership fees several times over each year through the use of APA recommended products and available discounts. Many valued services are only available to APA members. Advocacy for physiotherapists and their patientsThe healthcare sector operates in a highly competitive environment characterised by strong competition for scarce resources. The sector is also strongly influenced by established lobby groups. An influential and united professional association is critical to the interests of all physiotherapists. The APA is the only organisation in Australia that advocates exclusively for the interests of physiotherapists and their patients. Policy development, lobbying activities, education forums, and media activities are all critical components of the APA advocacy agenda. Professional development and life-long learningThe APA provides over 400 professional development opportunities a year; events that are subsidised to create value and accredited to ensure quality. Events range from evening lectures to national conferences.
