Local and international physiotherapists will descend upon Brisbane from Thursday 27 October for the third biennial APA Physiotherapy Conference. Delegates will attend the four-day conference hosted by the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) where group programs, including neurology, paediatrics, musculoskeletal, sport and cardiorespiratory to name a few, will showcase cutting-edge research. APA President Melissa Locke says APA Physiotherapy Conference will offer physiotherapists the opportunity to expand their knowledge with the most up to date methods of assessment, prevention evidence based treatment and management for a range of health concerns and issues. "APA Physiotherapy Conference will bring together over 1700 leading clinicians, educators and researchers from 14 disciplinary areas to share new findings and demonstrate how to employ them in practice to enhance the health outcomes of clients. During the conference, 150 keynote and invited speakers, 450 abstract papers and over 80 exhibitors will contribute to delivering our most outstanding conference yet," said Ms Locke Physiotherapists are the most comprehensively trained health professionals caring for the physical wellbeing of individuals. Demand for physiotherapy services in Australia is growing: a trend driven by 'lifestyle diseases', the ageing population and increasing levels of disability. "In 2010 there were over 8.5 million physiotherapy consultations recorded under private health insurance. This equals to almost 17.5 million physiotherapy consultations in total. The APA Physiotherapy Conference allows physiotherapists from all fields to come together in one setting, to collaborate and share their knowledge. The conference can only help to inspire a more active, mobile and injury-free environment for all delegates and their future patients," said Ms Locke. Registration for the APA Physiotherapy Conference is available each day onsite at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
