APA Welcomes Inaugural Physiotherapy Board |

The Australian Physiotherapy Association welcomes the Australian Health Workforce Ministerial Council announcement today of the inaugural Physiotherapy Board of Australia. President, Pat Maher said, “The members of the board have an outstanding depth and breadth of experience in the physiotherapy profession that will serve it well during the transition to the new system.” The Physiotherapy Board of Australia will have carriage of: approving a list of accredited courses of study that meet the qualifications for registration as a physiotherapist, overseeing registration as a physiotherapist, overseeing the assessment of overseas trained physiotherapists, conducting investigations and disciplinary hearings in relation to the conduct, competence or impairment of physiotherapists, and monitoring conditions imposed on the practice of physiotherapy. “The APA is excited to work with them to ensure the transition to the new National Registration and Accreditation scheme is seamless and successful. Glenn Ruscoe will bring lots of energy as Chair to the Board and is well qualified to lead the Board in its infancy,” said Mr Maher. Physiotherapy Board of Australia
